No More Plastic Bottles for Nation Media Group!

Nation Media Group Partners With Aquavita

Nation Media has partnered with Aquavita as the official drinking water provider. The launch which happened on Wednesday, Nov 3, 2021, is in line with NMG’s commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goals. The Integration of the bottle-less solution has seen the elimination of 868 plastic bottles from its environment monthly. This translates to 10,416 bottles annually and 59,664.46 kilograms of carbon dioxide annually.

Aquavita solution entails connecting water purification units to the portable water system, The water is then taken through a set of filters to eliminate any physical, chemical, or biological content that may be harmful. It is then put through an ultra-violet purification process before being dispensed as either hot, cold, or room temperature water.

This process eliminates the need to use plastic water bottles to provide access to drinking water at the workplace and reduces cost significantly “Point of Use Water dispensers has thus far reduced the organization’s plastic consumption by up to 80% and its cost of water delivery by 20%” confirmed Dorine Ogolo, Head of Procurement and Admin NMG. Through our high-tech filtration system, hygienic water is also guaranteed for NMG as there will be no handling of plastic bottles eliminating the opportunity for bacteria to grow or for contamination to begin.

“We’re delighted to work with an esteemed organization such as NMG in taking steps to become more sustainable,” said Jane K. Snow CEO Aquavita. “the idea behind Aquavita was to build a sustainable solution for the East African region while also enhancing behavior change in the consumption of drinking water”

Clifford Machoka, Group Head of External Affairs and Marketing added that the partnership comes at an opportune time with COP26 currently discussing the steps that need to be taken by the public/ private sectors and individuals to address climate change.

NMG has effectively demonstrated responsible corporate citizenship by taking leadership in the fight against climate change. As Governor Jay Inslee said, “We are the first generation to feel the sting of climate change and we are the last generation that can do anything about it.” We look forward to winning this war of preserving the world for the many generations to come one corporate at a time.
